New Moon in Leo, 2 August: your 9th house, total solar eclipse
Monday 2 August brings the New Moon at 9°54′ Leo, exact at 10:05 UTC, and for Sagittarius it falls in the 9th house, the house of faith, travel and higher learning.
Astrologers treat the New Moon as the month’s quiet beginning; in August that beginning is made in your 9th house, the place the Hellenistic astrologers called the God, and it is read as a seed of faith, planted in a season when certainty is thin. Set in your 9th house, the August lunation takes its tone from its sign: Leo makes the mood generous and proud, ready to lead and to play.
Astronomically the August New Moon is a solar eclipse, because it falls near one of the Moon’s nodes, the two points where its path crosses the Sun’s; for Sagittarius that happens in the 9th house. NASA classes it as total; for Sagittarius its greatest moment, at 10:07 UTC at 9°55′ Leo, is the one the tradition counts, and on the central line totality lasts up to 6 minutes 23 seconds. An eclipse in the ninth house is read as a turning in belief, study or travel: a journey that changes you, or a conviction that grows up. Read the total solar eclipse for Sagittarius in full.
If you want something to do with this August lunation, write down one belief you hold, and the reason you hold it.
Beyond the Sun sign
Your Sun sign is only part of 2027
A Sagittarius forecast reads the year by your Sun sign alone. The Road of Ages reads the turning points of your whole life from your own birth date, and shows where you stand on it now.
See the year on your own RoadFull Moon in Aquarius, 17 August: your 3rd house, penumbral lunar eclipse
On Tuesday 17 August the Moon comes full at 24°11′ Aquarius, at 07:29 UTC, facing the Sun in Leo; for Sagittarius it fills the 3rd house, the house of words, siblings and short journeys, from across the 9th.
At a Full Moon the Moon faces the Sun across the sky, and this August it faces it from your 3rd house, the Goddess, lighting a message that lands with more weight than usual, so it is worth reading twice before replying. For Sagittarius this August, Aquarius lends it originality, detachment and a sense of the common good. With the Sun across the chart in your 9th house, the August Full Moon speaks along the axis of the near and the far: daily words and larger beliefs, errands and pilgrimages.
This Full Moon is also a lunar eclipse, a Full Moon close to the nodes, when the Moon passes through the Earth’s shadow, and for Sagittarius it darkens the 3rd house. NASA classes it as penumbral, greatest at 07:14 UTC with the Moon at 24°04′ Aquarius in Sagittarius’s 3rd house, a faint shading rather than a red Moon. With the Moon eclipsed in your house of words, the old counsel is to say less and listen more until the dust settles.
If you want something to do with this August lunation, answer the message you have been avoiding, kindly and briefly.
New Moon in Virgo, 31 August: your 10th house
The New Moon is exact at 17:41 UTC on Tuesday 31 August, at 8°06′ Virgo. Counted by whole signs from Sagittarius, Virgo is your 10th house, the house of career and reputation.
Astrology reads the New Moon as the time to start small and mean it, and in August the small start belongs to your 10th house, the Midheaven: an intention about what you want to be known for, said plainly to yourself first. In your 10th house this August, Virgo lends it precision, modesty and service.
One way for Sagittarius to meet it in August: write down what you want to be known for in five years, in one line.
Planets changing sign or direction in August
On 2 August Mercury moves into Leo, which is your 9th house. Until 17 August, with Mercury in the house of the God, the tradition reads a spell for big questions, good teachers and travel arrangements.
Saturn turns retrograde in Aries, in your 5th house: until 24 December the planet of structure reviews rather than builds. The turn comes on 9 August, at 27°52′ Aries, and in your 5th house its review touches romance, creativity and children.
Mercury crosses into Virgo on 17 August and so into your 10th house. Until 3 September, Mercury in your 10th house makes your words public: presentations, applications and conversations with the people above you.
Venus enters Virgo on 20 August, your 10th house. Until 13 or 14 September, Venus in your 10th house lends charm to your public life: a spell when goodwill at work and a gracious reputation come more easily.

Love, work and money for Sagittarius in August
Venus begins August in Leo, your 9th house, and enters Virgo, your 10th, on 20 August, turning affection toward how a relationship fits beside a career, and the public face of a partnership.
Mars stays in Libra all month, your 11th house, putting the month’s effort into networks, clients, teams and the people who open doors. The New Moon on 31 August lands in your 10th, a house the tradition gives to career.
For money, no lunation or fast planet changes in your 2nd house (Capricorn) or your 8th (Cancer) in August, so the tradition would put the month’s weight elsewhere and leave Sagittarius’s budgets to ordinary prudence.
