New Moon in Capricorn, 7 January: your 2nd house
Thursday 7 January brings the New Moon at 17°18′ Capricorn, exact at 20:25 UTC, and for Sagittarius it falls in the 2nd house, the house of money, possessions and values.
The tradition reads a New Moon as a seed rather than a harvest, and the January seed falls in your 2nd house, the Gate of Hades of the old books: a seed of security, planted in the plain soil of income, savings and the things you own. For Sagittarius this January, Capricorn makes the mood disciplined and patient, more interested in results than in feelings.
One way for Sagittarius to meet it in January: name your rate, your price or your ask out loud before you have to say it to anyone else.
Beyond the Sun sign
Your Sun sign is only part of 2027
A Sagittarius forecast reads the year by your Sun sign alone. The Road of Ages reads the turning points of your whole life from your own birth date, and shows where you stand on it now.
See the year on your own RoadFull Moon in Leo, 22 January: your 9th house
On Friday 22 January the Moon comes full at 2°14′ Leo, at 12:17 UTC, facing the Sun in Aquarius; for Sagittarius it fills the 9th house, the house of faith, travel and higher learning, from across the 3rd.
The tradition reads a Full Moon as a culmination, and the January Full Moon brings it to your 9th house, the God in the old books, where it shows the result of a journey, a study or a long effort to understand something. Set in your 9th house, the January lunation takes its tone from its sign: Leo lends it warmth, courage and a little theater. With the Sun across the chart in your 3rd house, the January Full Moon speaks along the axis of the near and the far: daily words and larger beliefs, errands and pilgrimages.
A practice for the January Full Moon: share something you know with someone who is starting out.
Planets changing sign or direction in January
On 7 January Venus moves into Sagittarius, which is your 1st house. Until 3 February, Venus in your 1st house lends grace to how you carry yourself: a spell when charm comes easily and others warm to you more readily.
Mars turns retrograde in Virgo, in your 10th house: the planet of drive appears to reverse until 1 April, and the old books counsel patience while it does. The turn comes on 10 January, at 10°25′ Virgo, and Mars retrograde in your 10th house is read as ambition on review: projects delayed, and a chance to aim more wisely.
Mercury crosses into Aquarius on 13 January and so into your 3rd house. Until 1 February, Mercury in your 3rd house is at home in the house of words: messages multiply, errands pile up and learning comes easily.
The Sun enters Aquarius, your 3rd house, on 20 January at 07:30 UTC. Until 18 February, with the Sun lighting your house of words, the tradition reads a busy, talkative month, better for learning than for lofty plans.
Love, work and money for Sagittarius in January
Venus begins January in Scorpio, your 12th house, and enters Sagittarius, your 1st, on 7 January, turning affection toward how you present yourself to someone new, and how much of yourself you let a partner see.
Mars stays in Virgo all month, your 10th house, putting the month’s effort into career direction, promotion, reputation and the people above you, most directly of all the houses.
For money, the New Moon on 7 January falls in your 2nd: the house of what you earn and own. For Sagittarius that points January’s attention to income, savings, spending and possessions, most directly of all the houses; it is a timing, not a forecast of gain or loss.
