Privacy Policy
Last updated: October 24, 2026
This Privacy Policy says what The Great Almanac collects when You use the Service, why, which services help Us handle it, how long it is kept, and the choices and rights You have. By using the Service, You agree to the collection and use of information as this Privacy Policy describes.
In short
- We ask for what a reading needs: an email address to keep Your readings, and Your birth details to work out Your chart.
- We do not sell Your Personal Data. Your birth details, Your questions and Your readings are never given to advertising platforms, and never put in a web address.
- Readings and the Oracle's answers are written by Google's Gemini models from the chart We calculate. Payments are taken by Dodo Payments, and We never see Your card number.
- You can ask Us at any time for a copy of Your data, or to correct or delete it.

What We Collect
What You give Us
- Account details. Your email address, and a name if You give one. If You sign in with a password, the password is kept by Google Firebase Authentication in a form We cannot read. If You sign in with Google, Google gives Us Your name and email address.
- Birth details. Your date of birth and, when You know them, the time and place of Your birth. We use them to calculate Your chart, Your numbers and Your Road of Ages. Some tools work without a birth time.
- The people You add. If You add someone to Your circle, for a compatibility reading or so the Oracle can speak of them, We keep the name and birth details You give for them. Please add someone only with their knowledge. You can change or remove anyone in Your circle at any time.
- What You write. Your questions to the Oracle and the conversation that follows, and whatever You send Us in a support ticket, a bug report or an email. Share only what You are comfortable sharing: if You tell the Oracle about Your health, Your faith or Your relationships, We use it only to answer You.
- Purchases. What You bought, when, its price and its status, with the references Dodo Payments or Shopify give Us (or Stripe, for some older memberships), and, for a printed edition, the name and address it is shipped to.
- Your choices. The letters You asked for, whether You allowed notifications, and the preferences You set.
What is collected automatically
Usage Data is collected automatically when You use the Service. It may include Your Device's Internet Protocol address, browser type and version, the pages of the Service You visit, the time and date of Your visit, the time spent on those pages, the page or advertisement that brought You, device identifiers and other diagnostic data.
From the network address, Our hosting provider tells Us Your approximate location. We use the country to show prices for Your region, and a rough position, rounded to about ten kilometres, to find the weather over You for the Oracle's room; that position is not stored.
We do not ask for Your phone number, and We do not collect Your precise location.
How We Use It
- To provide the Service: to calculate charts, write and keep Your readings, answer Your questions, draw Your Road of Ages, and let You come back to all of them.
- To manage Your Account and Your membership, deliver what You bought, and handle billing and refunds.
- To send the emails You need or asked for: Your readings, sign-in links, notices about Your membership and purchases, and, if You subscribed, letters such as the daily briefing. Every letter that is not strictly about Your account carries a link to stop it.
- To send notifications, only if You allowed them in Your browser.
- To answer Your requests and support tickets.
- To keep the Service safe: to prevent abuse, fraud and overuse, for example by counting requests from one network address.
- To understand how the Service is used, and to improve it.
- To measure Our advertising: whether a visit that began with one of Our advertisements led to a sign-up or a purchase.
- To comply with the law, such as the rules for tax and accounting records.
If You are in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom or Switzerland, We rely on these legal bases: the contract with You, to provide the Service and what You bought; Our legitimate interests, to keep the Service safe, to measure and to improve it; Your consent, for letters You subscribed to and for notifications; and Our legal obligations, for tax and accounting records.
Writing by Artificial Intelligence
The words of readings, the Oracle's answers, the counsel of the Road of Ages and some other passages are written by Google's Gemini models, through Google's API, from the chart We calculate. We send what the writing needs: the chart worked out from the birth details, the name given for the reading, the question and the conversation so far, and, where You have added them, the people of Your circle. We never send Your email address or Your payment details.
Some requests may be answered under Google's unpaid API tier, whose terms allow Google to use the content to improve its products; the others are answered under the paid tier, whose terms do not.
Spoken answers are voiced by ElevenLabs or by Google's speech models, which receive only the text to be spoken.
Who Helps Us
We share Personal Data only with the Service Providers that run a part of the Service for Us, each receiving what its part needs:
- Dodo Payments, Our merchant of record: checkout, payment, tax and receipts. Dodo Payments handles Your card details; We never receive or store Your full card number.
- Stripe, which took payment for some older memberships: it still keeps the billing records of those memberships, and their billing page, and it too handles the card details, never Us.
- Shopify, the checkout for printed Codex editions, and Gelato, which prints and ships them and receives the pages and the name and address they go to.
- Google Firebase and Google Cloud: sign-in, and the database that keeps Your account, readings and settings.
- Netlify: hosting, and the servers that run the Service.
- Chart and map services: the chart calculation service at astro.brete.app receives the date, time and coordinates of a birth, never a name or an email address; OpenStreetMap's Nominatim receives the name of a birthplace, to find it on the map; TimeAPI receives its coordinates, to find its time zone; and when a place typed into a birthplace box is not in Our own list of cities, Google's Gemini models receive the words typed, and nothing else, to suggest the place meant.
- Google (the Gemini API) and ElevenLabs: writing and speech, as described above.
- Resend: sending Our emails and keeping Our mailing list.
- Google Tag Manager, which loads Our measurement, and Microsoft Clarity, which shows Us how pages are used, such as where people click and how far they scroll. Clarity is set to mask the words on the page, so readings, birth details and questions do not appear in what it records.
- Meta: the Meta Pixel and Our server connection to Meta count the visits and purchases that came from Our advertisements. Meta receives the page, the kind of event, Your browser's details, Meta's own cookies and a scrambled form of Our internal account number. It never receives Your email address, birth details, questions or readings.
- The Norwegian Meteorological Institute: a position rounded to about ten kilometres, with nothing that identifies You, to learn the weather.
- Your browser's push service, such as Google's, Apple's or Mozilla's, which delivers the notifications You allowed.
We may also disclose Personal Data where the law requires it or a public authority validly requests it, to protect the rights, property or safety of the Company, Our users or others, or as part of a merger, acquisition or sale of assets, in which case We will give notice before Your Personal Data becomes subject to a different privacy policy.
We do not sell Your Personal Data.
Cookies and Similar Technologies
Cookies are small files a website places on Your Device. The Service uses:
- Necessary cookies and storage, Our own: to keep You signed in, to remember that this device holds Your reading, and to keep Your settings. The Service cannot work without them.
- Measurement cookies: Microsoft Clarity's, and those of the measurement loaded by Google Tag Manager, to understand how the Service is used.
- Advertising cookies: the Meta Pixel's, to measure Our advertising.
We do not show a cookie banner. You can turn off advertising measurement on this device with the switch below, and You can refuse or delete cookies in Your browser's settings, though some parts of the Service may then stop working.
Advertising measurement on this device
Advertising measurement is on for this device.
Advertising measurement is off for this device: the Meta Pixel and Our server connection to Meta no longer count Your visits here.
Retention of Your Personal Data
The Company will retain Your Personal Data only for as long as is necessary for the purposes set out in this Privacy Policy, and to the extent necessary to comply with Our legal obligations, resolve disputes, and enforce Our agreements and policies.
- Your account and what it holds, including Your birth details, readings, Oracle conversations, Road of Ages and circle: while Your account is open, so You can come back to them, and for up to 24 months after it closes, unless You ask Us to delete them sooner.
- Purchase records: as long as tax and accounting law requires. Dodo Payments and Shopify keep their own records under their own policies.
- Mailing lists: until You unsubscribe. We keep a note of the unsubscribe so that We do not write again.
- Support tickets and correspondence: up to 24 months from the date of ticket closure.
- Usage Data and analytics: up to 24 months from the date of collection.
- Server logs: up to 24 months, for security monitoring and troubleshooting.
Your Rights
Wherever You live, You can ask Us for a copy of the Personal Data We hold about You, ask Us to correct it, and ask Us to delete it. Depending on the law where You live, You may also have the right to receive it in a portable format, to object to or restrict a use of it, and to withdraw a consent You gave, at any time, without affecting what was done before.
If You are in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom or Switzerland, You may also complain to Your data protection authority.
If You are a California resident, You have the right to know what Personal Data We collect and how it is used, to have it deleted or corrected, to opt out of its sale or sharing, and not to be treated differently for using any of these rights. We do not sell Personal Data. The Meta Pixel may count as sharing for advertising under California law, and the switch above turns it off on this device.
To use any of these rights, email worldwidebuschman@gmail.com from the address You use with the Service. We answer within 30 days, and may need to confirm that the request comes from You.
Deleting Your data
You can delete Your sign-in account Yourself, with Delete Account on Your account page. Your readings, Oracle conversations, Road of Ages and circle are kept on Your reading record: to delete those as well, write to Us and We delete them within 30 days. We may keep what the law obliges Us to keep, such as purchase records.
Transfer of Your Personal Data
Your information, including Personal Data, is processed at the Company's operating offices and wherever the Service Providers above operate, mostly in the United States. It may be transferred to, and kept on, computers outside Your state, province or country, where the data protection laws may differ from those of Your jurisdiction.
The Company will take all steps reasonably necessary to ensure that Your data is treated securely and in accordance with this Privacy Policy.
Security of Your Personal Data
The security of Your Personal Data is important to Us, but remember that no method of transmission over the Internet, or method of electronic storage is 100% secure. While We strive to use commercially reasonable means to protect Your Personal Data, We cannot guarantee its absolute security.
Children's Privacy
The Service is for adults, as the Terms and Conditions say, and does not address anyone under the age of 18. We do not knowingly collect Personal Data from anyone under 18. If You are a parent or guardian and You know that Your child has given Us Personal Data, please contact Us so We may remove that information.
Links to Other Websites
Our Service may contain links to other websites that are not operated by Us. If You click on a third party link, You will be directed to that third party's site. We strongly advise You to review the Privacy Policy of every site You visit. We have no control over and assume no responsibility for the content, privacy policies or practices of any third party sites or services.
Changes to this Privacy Policy
We may update Our Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify You of any changes by posting the new Privacy Policy on this page. We will let You know via email and/or a prominent notice on Our Service, prior to the change becoming effective and update the "Last updated" date at the top of this Privacy Policy.
