What sets Retrograde Motion apart
Retrograde motion is what an observer sees: a planet slows, stops at a station, drifts backward against the stars, stops again and resumes its forward way. The Sun and Moon never do it. Each planet has its own rhythm: Mercury about three times a year for roughly three weeks, Venus for around forty days every nineteen months, Mars for about two months every twenty-six months. The older texts treat a retrograde planet as weakened.
