Where the total eclipse can be seen

Wikipedia traces the track: “Totality will commence over the eastern Atlantic Ocean and travel across the Strait of Gibraltar between Spain and Morocco, and continue across parts of North Africa and the Middle East.”

The longest totality, by the same account: “The maximum duration of totality will be observed in Egypt, approximately 60 km (37 miles) southeast of Luxor, and will last 6 minutes and 22 seconds.”

Beyond the central path the Sun is only partly covered. In Wikipedia’s words, “A partial solar eclipse will be visible from the extreme east tip of Maine, United States, far eastern Quebec and the Atlantic Provinces in Canada, southern Greenland, Iceland, Ireland, Great Britain, nearly the entirety of the European continent, all but the southern quarter of Africa, the Middle East, and from South and Southeast Asia.”

Looking at the Sun without proper protection can injure the eyes at every partial phase. Use eclipse glasses made for the purpose or a pinhole projector; only during totality itself, inside the path, is the uncovered sight of the eclipse safe, and never during an annular eclipse, when a ring of the Sun stays bright.

The eclipse in the sky of 2027

The eclipse belongs to the New Moon of 2 August, exact at 10:05 UTC at 9°54′ Leo, 2 minutes before the greatest eclipse, and it falls at the Moon’s descending node.

A solar eclipse in Leo is an eclipse of the Sun in its own sign, and the tradition reads it as the heart of the chart briefly covered: pride, creative work, leadership and the wish to be seen all come up for review.

Because it falls at the south node, the point modern astrologers read as where a story is completing, the August eclipse is read as a release, the end of a chapter of self-display that has run its course, before a quieter one begins.

In the old books an eclipse was an omen for kings; modern astrologers read it more modestly, as a season of change in the house it falls in.
