What sets Composite Chart apart
A composite takes each planet in the two charts and places a new planet at the midpoint of the two, on the shorter arc, so the Sun at 10 Aries and a Sun at 20 Gemini give a composite Sun at 15 Taurus. The result is a single chart with no real birth moment: it describes the pair as one thing. Where the two are more than 180 degrees apart the nearer midpoint is chosen, which is the opposite point from the plain average.
- Rule: add the two longitudes, halve, and keep the midpoint on the shorter arc
- Example: Sun at 10 Aries and Sun at 20 Gemini: composite Sun at 15 Taurus
- Wide case: Moon at 10 Aries and Moon at 25 Libra: midpoint at 17 Capricorn 30, not 17 Cancer 30
- Angles: the composite Ascendant and houses are derived by a separate rule, which software handles in different ways

Often mistaken for something else: The composite is one chart of midpoints. Synastry keeps two charts, and a Davison chart uses a real midpoint in time and place instead of averaging each planet.
