The birthday almanac

Birthdays by dateZodiac signs, famous birthdays, personality and 2027 numbers for every day of the year

The short answer

Pick your birthday below. Each of the 366 pages gives the Sun’s sign for that date in every year from 1940 to 2030, measured, not looked up in a fixed table: 325 dates are one sign all day every year, 29 are cusp days when the Sun changed sign during the date in some years, and 12 more change only for births far from Greenwich.

How these pages are made

The Sun is measured, not read from a printed table. For every date and every year from 1940 to 2030 its position comes from the Swiss Ephemeris tables the Road of Ages uses, and a date is called a cusp day only where the Sun changed sign during it, counted in UTC, in at least one of those years. The decan is the ten-degree face the Sun holds at noon UTC, with its rulers from the Chaldean and triplicity systems explained in the decan guide.

The famous birthdays come from Wikidata, cross-checked against Wikipedia’s own words: a person whose birth or death the sources dispute is left out rather than guessed. The numbers follow the Almanac’s own method, the same as its calculators: the birthday number is the day reduced with 11 and 22 kept, and the Personal Year adds the reduced birth month and day to the Universal Year. Birthstones are the modern list; birth flowers are The Old Farmer’s Almanac’s.

The personality readings are written by hand for each decan, day number, element and cusp, in the tradition’s own terms. They are offered as a mirror for reflection, never as a verdict, and no page assigns a lucky number or colour: no calculation stands behind one.

Common questions

How do I find my zodiac sign from my birthday?

Open your date below. For most dates the Sun is in one sign all day in every year, and the page says so. On a cusp day it gives how often the Sun changed sign during that date from 1940 to 2030; your birth year and time then settle it, and the zodiac sign calculator can check it for you.

What is a cusp birthday?

A date on which the Sun moved from one sign into the next in some years. Counted in UTC from 1940 to 2030, 29 dates of the year are cusp days. At any instant the Sun is in exactly one sign, so a cusp birthday is settled by the year and the minute of birth, converted to UTC.

Where do the famous birthdays come from?

From Wikidata and Wikipedia’s “On this day” births: each date is checked against Wikidata’s own statements, and each day’s twelve best known are ranked by how many Wikipedia editions cover them. People remembered for violence, dictators and others unfit for a family page are left out.

What is the 2027 Personal Year?

2027 is a Universal Year 11 (2 + 0 + 2 + 7 = 11). Your Personal Year adds your reduced birth month and birth day to it, keeping master numbers, and every page works yours out for its date.
