New Moon in Capricorn, 7 January: your 9th house
On Thursday 7 January the Moon and the Sun meet at 17°18′ Capricorn, at 20:25 UTC; for Taurus that degree lies in the 9th house, the house of faith, travel and higher learning.
At a New Moon the Sun and the Moon stand together, and the old almanacs marked the turn of the month for planting; this January the planting is in your 9th house, the God, where the tradition looks for a beginning that widens the map, through travel, a teacher or a book. For Taurus this January, Capricorn makes the mood disciplined and patient, more interested in results than in feelings.
If you want something to do with this January lunation, read, pray, study or travel in a way that enlarges your mind.
Beyond the Sun sign
Your Sun sign is only part of 2027
A Taurus forecast reads the year by your Sun sign alone. The Road of Ages reads the turning points of your whole life from your own birth date, and shows where you stand on it now.
See the year on your own RoadFull Moon in Leo, 22 January: your 4th house
On Friday 22 January the Moon comes full at 2°14′ Leo, at 12:17 UTC, facing the Sun in Aquarius; for Taurus it fills the 4th house, the house of home, family and roots, from across the 10th.
At a Full Moon the Moon faces the Sun across the sky, and this January it faces it from your 4th house, the Subterranean, lighting a family matter that has been simmering and now wants an answer. Set in your 4th house, the January lunation takes its tone from its sign: Leo lends it warmth, courage and a little theater. With the Sun across the chart in your 10th house, the January Full Moon speaks along the axis of home and career: the private root and the public branch of a life.
A practice for the January Full Moon: clear one corner, drawer or shelf that has held the past for too long.
Planets changing sign or direction in January
On 7 January Venus moves into Sagittarius, which is your 8th house. Until 3 February, Venus in your 8th house deepens desire and trust: a spell for intimacy, for generosity in shared money and for gifts that carry weight.
Mars turns retrograde in Virgo, in your 5th house: the planet of drive appears to reverse until 1 April, and the old books counsel patience while it does. The turn comes on 10 January, at 10°25′ Virgo, and Mars retrograde in your 5th house is read as passions cooling for review, and creative work that needs reworking rather than forcing.
Mercury enters Aquarius on 13 January, your 10th house. Until 1 February, Mercury in your 10th house makes your words public: presentations, applications and conversations with the people above you.
The Sun enters Aquarius, your 10th house, on 20 January at 07:30 UTC. Until 18 February, with the Sun at the top of your chart, the season favors visible work, ambitions stated and responsibilities taken up.
Love, work and money for Taurus in January
Venus begins January in Scorpio, your 7th house, and enters Sagittarius, your 8th, on 7 January, turning affection toward intimacy, trust and the shared life two people build with their money and their secrets.
Mars stays in Virgo all month, your 5th house, putting the month’s effort into creative work and any project you care about for its own sake.
For money, Venus arrives in your 8th on 7 January: the house of what is shared and owed. For Taurus that points January’s attention to debts, loans, taxes, insurance and inheritance, other people’s money in your life; it is a timing, not a forecast of gain or loss.
