Leo in 2027: the year in brief

The year’s slow story for Leo is told by Saturn in Aries, your 9th house of travel and study, and by Jupiter in Leo and then Virgo, your 1st and 2nd houses. The eclipses fall in Aquarius, Virgo, Capricorn and Leo, which for Leo means your 1st, 2nd, 6th and 7th houses. Mercury turns retrograde three times, in Pisces (your 8th), Cancer (your 12th) and Scorpio (your 4th), and Mars is retrograde from 10 January to 1 April, through your 2nd and 1st houses.

Houses are counted by whole signs from your Sun sign (Leo is your 1st). Dates are UTC, from the Almanac’s own ephemeris.

Saturn in Aries all year: your 9th house

Saturn in your 9th house is read as a year of serious belief: study with discipline, a faith that has to be lived rather than admired, and travel that comes with duties. For Leo that is the greater malefic of the old books standing in the 9th house, and in Aries it stands in the sign of its fall, where the old books say it works with less ease than anywhere.

It turns retrograde on 9 August at 27°52′ Aries and direct on 24 December at 21°01′ Aries, so the second half of the year is read as a review of what the first half built in your 9th house: faith and belief, long journeys, and higher learning.

Write down one belief you hold, and the reason you hold it.

Jupiter in Leo, then Virgo: your 1st and 2nd houses

Jupiter begins the year in Leo, your 1st house, retrograde until 13 April, when it turns direct at 16°59′ Leo. Until 26 July, Jupiter in your 1st house is the tradition’s classic year of personal growth: more confidence, more opportunity, and a body that may grow too if appetite is not watched.

On 26 July Jupiter enters Virgo, your 2nd house, and stays there for the rest of the year. From 26 July, Jupiter in your 2nd house is read as a widening of means: income has more room to grow, and so does spending, which is why the old books counsel stewardship here.

The tradition calls Jupiter the greater benefic and reads its houses as where help and growth come most easily, so for Leo the doors stand in the 1st and then the 2nd, with the old warning that Jupiter enlarges whatever it touches, the wanted and the unwanted alike.

Uranus, Neptune, Pluto and the Moon’s nodes

Uranus stays in Gemini, your 11th house, all year. Uranus in your 11th house is read as new circles: unexpected friends, changing groups and hopes for the future that surprise you.

Neptune stays in Aries, your 9th house, all year. Neptune in your 9th house is read as faith and imagination widening: spiritual seeking, inspired study and longing for faraway places.

Pluto stays in Aquarius, your 7th house, all year. Pluto in your 7th house is read as transforming partnerships: intense bonds, power in relationships and agreements that change both parties.

The Moon’s north node stands in Aquarius all year and the south node opposite in Leo: for Leo your 7th and 1st houses, the axis of self and partner: how much of the year is yours to steer, and how much is shared. The year’s eclipses gather close to this axis, which is why Leo’s eclipse houses are the 7th and the 1st and their neighbors.

Love in 2027 for Leo

Venus, the lesser benefic, crosses your 5th house of romance (Sagittarius) from 7 January to 3 February and 1 November to 25 November, and your 7th house of partnership (Aquarius) from 1 March to 26 March and 19 December to 13 January 2028. The tradition reads those weeks as Leo’s warmest of the year for courtship and for agreements made in good faith. The lunations that fall in those two houses come in June and November: the Full Moon of 19 June in your 5th and the New Moon of 28 November in your 5th. Mars enters your 5th on 15 October, which the tradition reads as passion with friction in it. Two questions for Leo’s year in love: What would I create if no one judged it? And where do I give too much, and where too little?

Work and money in 2027

For work, the year’s weight sits where the slow planets stand: Saturn in your 9th (teaching, publishing, law, travel for work and further qualifications), and Jupiter in your 1st and then 2nd, read as growth in your personal initiative and the reputation you carry into any room and then your earnings and the price you put on your work. Your 10th house of career is Taurus; the lunations there fall on 6 May (New Moon) and 14 November (Full Moon), the year’s natural dates for career beginnings and reviews. Money is read through your 2nd house (Virgo) and your 8th (Pisces): 20 February (Full Moon in your 2nd), 8 March (New Moon in your 8th), 31 August (New Moon in your 2nd) and 15 September (Full Moon in your 8th) are the dates the tradition would mark for budgets, debts and agreements. With a slow planet in a house of work or money, 2027 is read as a structural year for Leo’s livelihood, though no reading of the sky settles a salary or a balance.

Leo’s four best months of 2027

Read by the lunations alone, the four most open months for Leo are April, May, June and November.

How the months are chosen: a month counts when its New Moon falls in one of the places the Hellenistic astrologers called fortunate (your 1st, 10th and 11th houses first, then your 5th and 9th), with a Full Moon there adding a little; eclipse New Moons are left out, since the tradition reads them as turning points rather than easy openings. It is a reading of the Moon’s turns, not of your whole chart: a month left off the list is not a bad month.

Mercury and Mars retrograde in 2027

Mars is retrograde from 10 January at 10°25′ Virgo to 1 April at 20°55′ Leo, backing from Virgo into Leo: your 2nd and 1st houses. For Leo that winter, Mars retrograde in your 1st house is read as energy turned inward: a time to rest, rebuild strength and rethink how you assert yourself.
