What sets Mercury Retrograde apart
Mercury has the shortest and most frequent retrograde of any planet: about three loops a year, each near three weeks, repeating roughly every 116 days. It is also never far from the Sun, at most 28 degrees away, so the loop happens while Mercury is lost in the Sun's glare at its middle and then reappears on the other side as a morning or evening star. Successive loops are about 120 degrees apart, so they tend to share an element for a year or two.
