New Moon in Capricorn, 7 January: your 8th house
The New Moon is exact at 20:25 UTC on Thursday 7 January, at 17°18′ Capricorn. Counted by whole signs from Gemini, Capricorn is your 8th house, the house of shared money, intimacy and deep change.
Astrologers treat the New Moon as the month’s quiet beginning; in January that beginning is made in your 8th house, the place the Hellenistic astrologers called the Idle Place, and it is read as a seed of courage about a fear you have not named to anyone. In your 8th house this January, Capricorn lends it structure, endurance and dry humor.
One way for Gemini to meet it in January: review an insurance policy, a will or a tax matter you have left alone.
Beyond the Sun sign
Your Sun sign is only part of 2027
A Gemini forecast reads the year by your Sun sign alone. The Road of Ages reads the turning points of your whole life from your own birth date, and shows where you stand on it now.
See the year on your own RoadFull Moon in Leo, 22 January: your 3rd house
On Friday 22 January the Moon comes full at 2°14′ Leo, at 12:17 UTC, facing the Sun in Aquarius; for Gemini it fills the 3rd house, the house of words, siblings and short journeys, from across the 9th.
A Full Moon is read as an illumination, and the January Full Moon shines into your 3rd house, the Goddess, where it shows what has been said and what has been left unsaid, especially with a sibling, a neighbor or a colleague. For Gemini this January, Leo lends it warmth, courage and a little theater. Read as an axis, from your 3rd house to your 9th, this January Full Moon runs along the axis of the near and the far: daily words and larger beliefs, errands and pilgrimages.
A practice for the January Full Moon: turn off one stream of noise for a week and see what you hear instead.
Planets changing sign or direction in January
Venus crosses into Sagittarius on 7 January and so into your 7th house. Until 3 February, with the lesser benefic opposite your own sign, the old books would look here for warmth from partners, clients and even rivals.
Mars stations retrograde in Virgo, your 4th house, beginning a backward loop of 81 days that lasts until 1 April. The turn comes on 10 January, at 10°25′ Virgo, and Mars retrograde in your 4th house is read as work on the home stalling, or family tensions asking to be dealt with at last.
Mercury crosses into Aquarius on 13 January and so into your 9th house. Until 1 February, with Mercury in the house of the God, the tradition reads a spell for big questions, good teachers and travel arrangements.
On 20 January at 07:30 UTC the Sun crosses into Aquarius, which for Gemini is the 9th house. Until 18 February, the Sun in your 9th house, where the old books say it rejoices, makes a month for travel, study and belief.
