What sets Dominant Sign apart
No classical rule or single formula defines a dominant sign: it is the result of a tally chosen by the astrologer or the software, so two programs can name different signs for the same birth. Most schemes count the ten bodies Sun through Pluto plus the Ascendant across the twelve signs, and give the Sun, Moon and Ascendant more weight than the outer planets. The count then ranks the signs.
