What sets Equal Houses apart

Equal houses begin at the exact degree of the Ascendant and add 30 degrees at a time, so every cusp has the same degree and minute as the Ascendant in a different sign. The Midheaven is therefore not a cusp. Whole sign houses and equal houses are often mistaken for one another, since both are 30 degrees wide; they differ only in where each house begins.

House size: exactly 30 degrees each
First cusp: the Ascendant degree, for example 14 degrees of Gemini
Other cusps: the same degree and minute in each following sign
Midheaven: is not the tenth cusp, and can fall in the 9th, 10th or 11th house
Variant: Equal from the Midheaven starts at the Midheaven degree instead

Often mistaken for something else: Whole sign houses start every house at 0 degrees of a sign. Equal houses start at the Ascendant degree, so their cusps fall inside the signs.
