What sets Cherubim apart
In the text they are guardians and bearers of God's presence, not winged children. They are stationed east of Eden with a flaming sword (Genesis 3:24), carved on the ark's mercy seat, and embroidered into the tabernacle curtain. In Ezekiel they carry the throne, and Ezekiel 10:14 swaps the ox face of chapter 1 for a cherub's face. The Hebrew form is cherub, plural cherubim.

Often mistaken for something else: Seraphim are in Isaiah 6, with six wings and burning; cherubim are the throne-bearing and guardian beings of Eden, the ark and Ezekiel.
The Cherubim as Taurus and Aquarius
J. H. Hill reads the Cherubim as the composite figure of Taurus and Aquarius, a winged bull with a man's head. He ties it to the half of the year in which the days lengthen, from the winter solstice to the summer solstice. His other composite, the Seraphim, he ties to Leo and the eagle and the half of the year in which the days shorten.
The tie to the zodiac is his argument, and the Cherubim of the Bible are described in the text without any such link.
How the Cherubim relate to the four creatures
For Hill the four living creatures and the Cherubim are one scheme. The four fixed signs, the lion, bull, man and eagle, mark the four seasons, and the Cherubim and Seraphim are the two winged composites made from pairs of them.
