How the calculation works
Reduce your birth month and your birth day on their own, keeping 11 or 22 whole: a November birthday stays 11, and a 29th becomes 2 + 9 = 11. Add the Universal Year, which is the digits of the current calendar year reduced the same way (2026 is 2 + 0 + 2 + 6 = 10, then 1). Reduce the total once more, keeping 11, 22, or 33 as a master number. For example, a May 14 birthday in 2026 gives 5 + (1 + 4 = 5) + 1 = 11: a Personal Year 11, read as the master form of a 2 year. Personal years move through the nine themes and then restart, with 11, 22, and 33 as heightened forms of 2, 4, and 6, so every ninth year rhymes with the one before it.

Do I need my birth time?
No. Personal years are built from your birth month, birth day, and the calendar year. Birth time matters when you cast a complete natal chart.
What is a personal year number?
It is the position you currently occupy in numerology’s repeating 9-year cycle, calculated from your reduced birth month, your reduced birth day, and the Universal Year of the current calendar year. When the total lands on 11, 22, or 33 it is kept as a master year.
When does my personal year change?
The common convention changes it on January 1. Some numerologists run it birthday to birthday; The Great Almanac uses the calendar-year convention for consistency.
Does a 9 year mean something is ending?
It marks a completion chapter: finishing, releasing, and clearing before a new 1-year begins. It describes a theme, not a verdict.
