What sets Magical Correspondences apart

A correspondence works by shared quality: the Sun is hot, golden and bright, so gold, the lion and the heart belong to its set. Marsilio Ficino set this out in Three Books on Life (1489), and Heinrich Cornelius Agrippa arranged it in three worlds in De occulta philosophia, the elemental, the celestial and the intellectual. The tables vary from author to author. Scripture sets a firm boundary against divination and sorcery (Deuteronomy 18:10 to 12), and this entry gives the history only.
