What a bridge number is intended to connect

The Life Path is usually derived from the date, while the Expression or Destiny number comes from all letters of the birth name. A bridge takes the difference between two such values and treats that difference as a symbolic adjustment between their themes. The Heart’s Desire–Personality bridge instead compares vowels with consonants in a name system. Because these pairs answer different questions, a result such as “Bridge 3” is incomplete unless the two source numbers and their calculation rules are shown.

How to calculate the difference
Calculate each core number first, preserving master numbers only according to a declared policy. Suppose a Life Path reduces to 7 and an Expression number to 3. The absolute difference is 4, so the Life Path–Expression bridge is 4. Do not subtract full unreduced totals such as 34 and 21 unless the chosen author explicitly defines that method. If one value is 11, decide whether the bridge uses 11 or its root 2 before subtracting. The convention changes the result, which is why a calculator must expose intermediate values rather than giving only a final keyword.
Reading the result without contradiction
The bridge is generally framed as a quality that helps two core themes cooperate. A bridge of 4 might be associated with structure and steady practice; a bridge of 3 with expression and communication; a bridge of 1 with initiative.
