The story behind Chiromancy
Hand reading has a documented European history from the medieval period, was printed widely in the sixteenth and seventeenth centuries, and was attacked and defended in the same works that argued about astrology.
Why Chiromancy matters
Chiromancy matters because it is the formal term behind palm-reading traditions.
Sources and editorial method
This entry summarizes the tradition in the Almanac's own words; where no source is listed, it is an editorial summary rather than a primary text, and symbolic readings are named as the tradition's, not as fact.
